In early 2002, Blue Ridge Metals Corp. made a
donation of 7.91 acres of land along Hoopers Creek to the town of Fletcher.
This land will be used as a part of an extensive greenway being constructed
by the town starting at Fletcher Community Recreation Park. Blue Ridge Metals Corp. is committed to the preservation of the environment and the wellness of its employees. This gift provides both. The greenway is designed to include a riparian buffer to protect Hoopers Creek, and the walkway will provide a place for employees to exercise as they enjoy the creek. As a result of this gift, Mayor William B. Moore nominated, and Blue Ridge Metals Corp. received, ‘The Friends of the River’ award in 2002. This award is given to individuals and organizations that have contributed to the preservation and enhancement of the French Broad River and its tributaries. |
